Kylian Mbappe was named Player of the Year at the European edition of the Globe Soccer Awards in his final year at Paris Saint-Germain.
French striker Kylian Mbappe arrived in Sardinia on Tuesday to receive the European edition of the Globe Soccer Awards. In a not so great year in the international arena, the Paris Saint-Germain star was still honored even though next season he left the club to join Real Madrid.
Real Madrid’s English midfielder Jude Bellingham was named EA Sports La Liga Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Bellingham was not present at the awards ceremony but he said in a video: “It’s an honor to receive this award and I’m sorry I can’t be there to receive it in person, but you know, I’m preparing for the finals.” Champions League final”.
Bellingham dedicated the trophy to his teammates and coaching staff for the “faith” they had in him, as well as to all Real Madrid fans. Bellingham said: “I dedicate it to all my teammates, staff and coaches for the faith they have shown in me and above all to the fans of the best club in the world. It’s an honor to play for them.”
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe attended in person at the luxurious Cala di Volpe hotel in Costa Smeralda to receive the Player of the Year award from Barcelona’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
Manchester City, who won the Premier League for the fourth time in a row this season, were named Team of the Year, while in the women’s category, the winner was Barcelona,who European champions for the second time in a row last Saturday in Bilbao.
The Coach of the Year award went to Xabi Alonso, who led German team Bayer Leverkusen to a historic double by winning the Bundesliga championship and the German national cup without losing a single match.
