Jason Kelce hopes that his three daughters will become “hungry to continue” by learning from their losses

The retired NFL pro is dad to daughters Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett, whom he shares with wife Kylie Kelce

Jason Kelce may have had success in his football career, but he’s hoping his daughters will be able to lose a little before following in his footsteps.

On this week’s episode of his podcast New Heights with brother Travis Kelce, the retired NFL pro, 36, highlighted how important to him it is for his daughters to lose. “Especially for kids, losing is incredible. I think we put way too much emphasis on winning at the high school and below age groups,” Jason said.

“I kind of hope my girls win just enough that they’re confident, but lose enough that they don’t think they’re the best at what they do so that they’re hungry to continue,” the proud dad, who shares daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 15 months, with wife Kylie, continued.

Jason Kelce Says Daughter Wyatt Is ‘Doing Great’ in Preschool: ‘Teachers Have Nothing but Rave Reviews’

In a May episode of their podcast, Jason spoke about how his kids were doing in school. “Wyatt’s doing great,” Jason said, adding, “The teachers have nothing but rave reviews. She’s really taking after Kylie.”

“Thatta girl,” Travis replied.

“She’s doing great. She loves it. Ellie actually just started preschool. She’s at the same school with Wyatt,” Jason added, explaining how they’re both in the “frogs” age group at the preschool.

During the episode, Jason also shared how fun it is to hear about what his daughters are up to at preschool and how they spend their day. He added how Wyatt already has a crush on a boy at her school.

He said, “I’m not telling you his name, but you can just tell in the way she talks about him. So I’m ready to beat the f— out of him.”

Speaking with PEOPLE about her partnership with HoneyBaked over the holidays, Kylie talked about her three girls watching football, sharing that Wyatt “enjoys watching here and there.”

“We like to look at the TV for times that Jason might have his helmet off, or Uncle Trav might have his helmet off,” she said.

“Those are the moments when I can really suck them into a game because then they don’t look like every other person on the field. When the helmets are off, they can say, ‘Oh, that’s definitely dad.'”

“Anytime they see red teams on the TV, they say, ‘Are we cheering for the red team?’ Because usually, we’re watching Uncle Trav,” Kylie shared.
