Are you ever excited to see the latest homes being built? It just shows how many possibilities there are for what you can create and build. It’s always fascinating to see how others design their homes, whether they are tiny homes, tiny cabins or campers, tiny apartments, or regular homes. The trend of turning old vans, buses, and campers into living spaces or mobile campers is one of the most fascinating design trends of today. These DIYers demonstrate how a little bodywork and paint can transform these vehicles. Will Winkelman of Winkelman Architecture completed this renovation. He transformed a 1959 Chevy small bus into a beautiful home on wheels. The final design is simply stunning. You can just grab a few kayaks or canoes and get on the road for some great fun.
He took a 1959 Chevrolet Viking Short Bus and gutted it to reveal the interior. He then created designs by hand sketching them. He designed the mobile camper to carry 12 passengers and the driver, and then convert into a space for sleeping at night. It can only comfortably sleep two people, so it’s best for a couple or small family with young 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren who can sleep in a tent. The bench seating he made is perfect for lounging around on during the day. It can also be converted into two single beds, or can be combined to make a queen bed. He also added a toilet, a sink and 120-volt power.
The exterior of his bus was painted in a neutral, green colour. This blends well with its surroundings. The interior was then decorated with vibrant colours and accessories. He used all wood flooring, but he also added some nice touches of wood. He also added a desk to the space, as well as a dining table, so that it could be used for creating or eating. The walls were all painted white and finished with wood trim. This brightens the space. He kept the bus’s windows and added curtains to the top of them for privacy.
There are many inspiring designs that you can use to inspire you if you are thinking of refinishing an older bus or camper. Although you will likely need to add plumbing, power, beds, and interior floors and walls, that is part of the fun. You may not feel creative enough to tackle projects like these, so it is a good idea to get some help.
Imagine new pine floors, freshly painted walls, cooking on your new propane stove top, beautiful fabrics and prints throughout to go on your summer adventures with, wherever your heart desires — the thought of waking up beside your lakeside or mountain view spot, in first-class accommodations on wheels. You can experience a variety of scenery and adventures with a campervan or small bus.
