22-Year-Old Chelsea Player Has Already Lost £63m In Value In Under A Year – The Blues Are Likely To Take A Huge Loss

Mykhailo Mudryk is still struggling to find his feet at Chelsea following a move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

The Ukraine international moved to Stamford Bridge in an £88.5m deal, and Chelsea handed him a contract worth £97,000-a-week in what was a major show of faith.

As things stand – however – Chelsea are likely to take a huge loss on Mykhailo Mudryk.

What’s the story?

Well – according to CIES Football Observatory – the Chelsea No.10’s value has already dropped by €30m (£25.8m) in less than a year since his arrival in west London.

That represents a £62.7m dip from the £88.5m Chelsea spent on Mudryk.

Of course, the 22-year-old still has plenty of time to restore his value, and the current figures are hardly surprising when you take into account his attacking numbers.

Mudryk is still waiting for his first Premier League goal after 18 appearances, and only has two assists to show for his efforts in that time.

Chelsea must keep faith with Mudryk

In our view, Mudryk will come good for Chelsea.

We don’t want to make excuses on his behalf, although a lot must be taken into account when you analyse why he is struggling.

According to The Athletic, Mudryk remains concerned about family members who are still living in Ukraine, as the war with Russia continues.

The Krasnohrad-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 winger is also less than a year into his experience in a new country, the first time he has ever played football outside of his native Ukraine, and things have hardly been settled at Stamford Bridge to help him adjust.

Furthermore, Mauricio Pochettino is currently using Ben Chilwell as a left winger, meaning Mudryk – who thrives at bursting past defenders on the flank – is being forced inside when he gets onto the pitch, which seems to stifle him.

Once Pochettino realises his best starting XI, and Mudryk gets a bit more settled in, we back him to shine in west London.
