“It’s just not happening at all”: Unlike Keanu Reeves, Daniel Craig’s Best James Bond Movie Gets Shredded by Gun Expert for One Impossible Scene

Starting with Sean Connery’s 1962 movie, James Bond has not only become a worldwide phenomenon but has also become one of the most successful and popular franchises in the world. Based on Ian Fleming’s character, the series follows the MI6 agent, who has been portrayed by several actors over the years. And the last Hollywood star who graced the silver screen as 007 was Daniel Craig.

The British actor starred in five movies in the series, among which the third installment, Skyfall, is considered to be the best. The movie grossed over $1 billion at the box office and was also highly praised by critics as well. However, despite being the best movie under Craig’s run as the MI6 agent, a sniper expert has recently debunked a flaw in the opening sequence of the movie.

Eve Moneypenny’s Shot in James Bond Movie Debunked

The third installment in Daniel Craig’s James Bond film series, Skyfall, follows the MI6 spy on a hunt for a cyberterrorist who threatens the secret spy agency and seeks vengeance against M. The opening sequence of the movie features 007 and Eve Moneypenny chasing Patrice across Istanbul.

The sequence is followed by a dramatic fight sequence on a moving train, as Moneypenny is ordered by M. to take a shot, which accidentally strikes Craig’s character. The protagonist of the movie is presumed dead after he falls into the river, and Patrice escapes with the hard drive.

However, in a recent Insider special, a sniper expert, Nicholas Irving, has debunked the scene. He stated that the choice of weapon is not the right for the situation, explaining, “That weapon is, like, literally accurate for like 50 meters.”

However, he said that the distance between Eve Moneypenny and the approaching train seemed “a couple of hundred yards.” In addition to concern about her weapon choice, the expert also noted that even if she tried to hit the bad guy, there were chances that she would have potentially injured or 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed the other as well.

Expert Gives Skyfall Sniper Scene 1/10 Rating

Further debunking the scene, the sniper expert Nicholas Irving noted that Naomie Harris’ Eve Moneypenny evidently did not have a clean shot. He explained that in the military, a clean shot is one that does not “𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 or injure something you don’t intend to.”

Daniel Craig as James Bond in Skyfall

However, as the scene features Daniel Craig and Ola Rapace in a fistfight, he claimed that it makes it nearly impossible to keep the other from getting injured. He told Insider,

“If her target is one of those two men, that bullet- y’know it’s a 5.56, it’s gonna zip right through the bad guy and potentially wound or 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 the guy she’s trying to help out or save.”

Nicholas Irving also said that if he was ordered to take that shot, he wouldn’t be able to guarantee anything. In the end, he gave it a 1/10 rating, saying, “I would grade it a 1 like it’s just not happening at all,” making it the lowest-rated sniper scene in the Insider special.

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick

Unlike the James Bond feature, Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise has been praised for having ultra-realistic gun scenes. The movie has been applauded for keeping the action and thrill intact without breaking the laws of physics.

Skyfall is available on Prime Video.
