After suffering many rejections, young African man finally wins scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at US university

After suffering many rejections, a young African man named Bright Senyo Gadzo has finally won a scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology in the United States.

Bright is a Ghanaian who was awarded a scholarship to further his studies in the United States. He was a participant at the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) according to Yen News.

He secured a scholarship worth over 92,000 dollars through the Ckodon Foundation, a nonprofit organization to study in the United States. Bright mentioned that he had received countless of rejections in an attempt to get a scholarship to further his studies.

”After a careful review of your application, we regret to inform you we’re unable to offer you admission into our noble school this fall” I’ve read this piece of line countless times in my life all in the pursuit of that one congratulatory letter,” he said.

With the scholarship, Bright will study Electrical Engineering at California Institute of Technology in the United States. He nearly gave up on his college applications, but seeing a colleague enroll at Harvard inspired him.

”I got rejected by all these schools. In a way I felt I wasn’t there yet but Francisca Lamini’s admission into the famous Harvard University was an eye opener. We both left Keta SHTS, with the same final grades. When she got into Harvard means I’ve the potential to get into an equally elite US college if I tried again,” he said.

He continued with his application with the help of the CKDON foundation and eventually, he was awarded a scholarship. ”The application journey held its share of setbacks, with safety schools delivering disheartening news. Yet, Caltech emerged as a beacon of hope, turning despair into elation,” he said.

Bright said he plans to return to Ghana to help in the power sector and support young people facing financial difficulties with their applications. He encouraged ambitious individuals who want to study abroad to stay hopeful despite setbacks.
