First meeting

In 2008, John Krasinski dated co-star Rashida Jones. Meanwhile, Emily Blunt had just gone through a breakup with singer Michael Bublé. They met by chance at a restaurant thanks to a mutual friend.

Recalling that memory, Emily Blunt shared: “He was having dinner at a restaurant, I was having dinner at a restaurant. My friend Gary suddenly exclaimed, “Oh my God, that’s my friend John.” That’s what happened. John (Krasinski) was sitting with Justin Theroux and then left Justin to talk to me. He didn’t eat either, he just sat there talking and made me laugh.”

Having a crush on each other, they decided to date, but to this day, neither of them admits who asked the other out to dinner first.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski when they first met

Haven’t met her yet but have watched her movies 70 times

Although the two had never met, John Krasinski became a fan of Emily Blunt when “The Devil Wears Prada” came out in June 2006. Krasinski later admitted to Blunt that he watched the film over and over again. In a 2016 interview with Glamour, the actor recalled that after the couple had been dating for a while, Blunt asked him if he had seen the film.

“I said, ‘Yes,’ and she said, ‘How many times?’ And I said, ‘A lot.’ She said, ‘How many is a lot?’ And I said, ‘75 times,’” he recalled.

Red carpet debut and engagement

A year after they met, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski made their red carpet debut together at the SAG Awards. Eight months later, the couple got engaged, and Krasinski later said he was “very nervous. It was a simple moment but very emotional. And then we both cried.”

Dream wedding

On July 10, 2010, the couple married in a quiet ceremony at George Clooney’s estate in Lake Como, Italy. For the event, Blunt wore a custom-made Marchesa gown, along with a 3-carat round diamond and a platinum ring from Neil Lane. There was a minor mishap that the actress later shared on “The Late Late Show With James Corden”: “I didn’t spray tan properly. I looked really orange in the pictures. It was hot, I was sweating everywhere, and I was wearing white. The orange just kept coming off, it was horrible.”

Krasinski told Elle that George Clooney had donated his estate to the couple at their wedding. “I only said yes the fourth time I asked him. Because the first three times, I thought, there’s no way he’s serious,” he said. “But I started to see him looking miserable. So, I hurt George Clooney.”

Welcome the first 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥

On February 16, 2014, Krasinski announced the 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 of their first daughter, Hazel Grace, via social media platform X (formerly Twitter): “I wanted to share the news firsthand. Emily and I are so happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy Birthday!”

Emotional moments that make everyone admire

At the 2015 Critics’ Choice Awards, Blunt won the award for Best Actress in an Action Movie for her role in “The Edge of Tomorrow.” As the actress stepped onto the stage to accept her award, she was adorably interrupted by her husband, who ran up to hug her in congratulations.

In an interview with People, John still couldn’t hide his “wife-crazy” attitude when he said he was Blunt’s number 1 fan: “After we got married, I’m happier than the day I met her.”

More than a year after welcoming their daughter Hazel, Krasinski says it has changed their lives too. “I think when you dedicate your whole life to something like that, it changes. All the clichés make sense now.” In June 2016, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Violet.

The first project marks the “combining of two swords”

After years of working on separate acting projects, Blunt and Krasinski announced their first collaboration in March 2017. The pair confirmed they were working on a new horror film together called “A Quiet Place.”

Krasinski posted a photo of the two together on Instagram with the caption: “Which actor would you like to act with? The answer is above.”
