Fans criticize the NFL for being “rigged,” when Patrick Mahomes is seen in a leaked tunnel photo conversing with the referee prior to the Chiefs-Falcons game

Due to a leaked photo of Patrick Mahomes and an NFL official, conspiracy theories are starting to surface.

Fans believe that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are receiving favorable calls from the officials after the team opened the season 3-0.

In Weeks 2 and 3 of the season, the Chiefs were fortunate to receive a few near-penalties, and supporters are already becoming impatient with how they’re being treated.

To exacerbate the situation, Mahomes was seen conversing with a referee on Sunday in a pregame photo.

This is not an unusual practice; before to games, many players converse with the referees to catch up with them or to find out how specific plays would be called.

It’s not unheard of for NFL players and officials to say hello to one another after participating in so many games together.

However, after seeing Mahomes’s exchange with the referee, NFL fans became more enraged and vented their annoyance on social media.

One admirer commented, “Ready to cheat like always.”

“Guy gave him a 20 lol,” remarked a another admirer.

“I don’t even think Tom Brady got this treatment,” a third fan said.

“Another rigged game incoming,” a fourth fan said.

“Bad look for the nfl here,” a fifth fan said.

After just three weeks of the NFL season, the Chiefs have already produced a multitude of contentious officiating moments.

They started in Week 1, when officials granted the Chiefs a timeout that shouldn’t have counted.

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo ran down the sideline to call a timeout with nine seconds left in the second quarter, and the stoppage was granted.

The problem is that assistant coaches aren’t allowed to call timeouts.

In that case, the only person authorized to request a timeout is Andy Reid, the head coach.

The Chiefs assisted with officiating in Week 2 and then won the game with a pass interference call.

With the Bengals ahead 25–23 and fourth–and–16, Mahomes attempted a ball to wide receiver Rashee Rice, but it was incomplete.

After the ball was broken up, though, the flags started flying, and the officials called pass interference, which gave the Chiefs the opportunity to make a last-second field goal to win the game.

Week 3 saw the Chiefs become the benefactor of a no-call in their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Falcons.

The Falcons trailed the Chiefs 17-22 with little time left when a pass from Kirk Cousins to Kyle Pitts was broken up.

Broadcaster Cris Collinsworth immediately pointed out how much contact there was and said that Pitts didn’t have an opportunity to make a play.

“That’s a lot of contact wasn’t it,” Collinsworth said.

“Heads not around and didn’t have a chance to make a play.”

A pass interference call would’ve given the Falcons a first-and-goal opportunity and a prime position to win the game.

Regardless of how the wins come through, the Chiefs are sitting at 3-0 and first in the league.
