James Harden Is Reportedly Torn Between The 76ers And The Rockets

Even though James Harden is no longer an MVP-level player, he is still a quality point guard who is a star-level player. He played a big role in the Philadelphia 76ers making it to the second round this season.

James Harden will be a free agent this season, and he has frequently been linked with the Houston Rockets. According to a recent report from Shams Charania, he seems to be torn between that scenario and staying with the Philadelphia 76ers.

“I really think that he’s torn with the prospect of staying in Philadelphia or moving on to Houston potentially and returning back to his home and that’s where his roots are, his family’s there. Of course, they’ve got upwards of $60, they could make even more money available, close to $70 million in cap space so they’re going to have a ton of money. I think this is a team in Houston where I do believe they’re going to be aggressive in the marketplace.” (9:22)

It makes sense that James Harden is considering staying with the Philadelphia 76ers, as they are his best chance of competing at a high level. However, sometimes things are bigger than basketball, and James Harden has a great connection with the city of Houston itself.

This season, James Harden averaged 21.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 10.7 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers. It is clear that he can still be a difference-maker for any team, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

The Phoenix Suns Are Also A Landing Spot For James Harden

Aside from the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets, it seems as though there are other options for James Harden as well. A previous report revealed that the Phoenix Suns could also be a landing spot for the guard.

“With free agency pending for James Harden, I’m hearing there is another team prominently on his radar in addition to Houston. That team is the Phoenix Suns,” NBA TV contributor Brian Geltzeiler wrote.

The Phoenix Suns could definitely be a good landing spot for James Harden, as point guard Chris Paul is getting older and they could use a player that can take up the starting PG spot. We will see where Harden decides to go, but it won’t be an easy decision.
