Award-winning actress Lynn Whitfield and her movie director ex-husband Brian Gibson share a beautiful daughter named Grace Gibson who fell in love with her parents’ career and followed in their footsteps.
After Lynn Whitfield’s fantastic delivery of her role in “The Josephine Baker” directed by her ex-husband Brian Gibson, which earned the pair an Emmy award, they decided to take their friendship to another level. By 1990, the couple walked down the aisle.
Shortly after they sealed the deal, their adorable daughter, Grace was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, but it did not take the marriage long before it crashed down.

For the “The Josephine Baker” star, it was not a pleasant experience. She was left to care for her daughter as a single mother while she continued to pursue a career that seemed to be going downhill.
In 1995, she explained that having her daughter is invaluable. Years later, Grace proved her mother right by making her proud as she gradually crafted her path in the movie industry.
On Grace’s IG page, fans can see that both mother and daughter are very close. While they may have some unseen moments behind closed doors to express their affections, the young actress lovingly shows her admiration for her mother online. In 2017, after sharing a red carpet moment of her and Whitfield, she wrote:
“From creating a lasting career for herself out of scratch to raising me as a single mom while still sustaining that career…Love you forever, my ride or die BFF and ma.”
She concluded by stating that Whitfield is her inspiration. Just last year, the same Instagram account shared a cute image of the duo as they attended an event. This time, they twinned in the same attires and looked breathtakingly gorgeous.
As far as her acting career, she has starred in films like “Black Nativity,” “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G,” and “All Eyez on Me,” a biographical film about Tupac Shakur where she portrayed singer Faith Evans.
She once said that she would forever be unapologetic to trolls who judge her for marrying Gibson.
Grace might have followed in her parents’ footsteps but she has also expressed her love for fashion and music creatively. In one of her Instagram posts, she showed some model behavior while rocking colorful pieces and sultry makeup. In 2018, she shared a snap of herself dressed in a classic assemble with a guitar.
The “All Eyez on Me” star then asked her fans if they were interested in listening to her music as she had several songs that are yet to be released. According to her,
“I’ve never released any of the music I write…Who would like to hear some music from me?”
Whitfield has starred in several productions including comedy and tragedy. She brilliantly brings her roles to life in every feature. Her explanation for this is that she loves to see people express their emotions in different ways.
Over the years, she has proven herself worthy of fans’ love. This is due to excellent performances and her no-nonsense personality. When it comes to defending her choices, she goes for it.
She once said that she would forever be unapologetic to trolls who judge her for marrying Gibson because he is White and she is Black.
