Rory McIlroy set for emotional revisit of US Open heartbreak as Full Swing announcements made

Netflix has announced that Full Swing will be returning to the streaming site on February 25, with the epic US Open clash between Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau set to feature.

Full Swing is back for a third season next month, following its previous successes covering the 2022 and 2023 PGA Tour seasons. On the back of the popularity, the Netflix cameras returned to the circuit last year, and were there to cover yet another dramatic season in the sport.

Most notably McIlroy and DeChambeau played out a major championship battle for the ages, after the American pipped the Northern Irish star to the US Open crown last June.

It proved to be a bitter pill to swallow for McIlroy, whose wait for a fifth major title was forced to go on after missing out in North Carolina down the stretch. The PGA Tour star will be forced to relive his major heartbreak though, with the event expected to be play a big part in Full Swing’s third season.

Having announced its release date, Full Swing bosses also confirmed its player lineup, with McIlroy on the list. His rival DeChambeau will also feature, with the US Open champion the only name from the LIV Golf setup included on the Netflix appearance list.

As well as McIlroy and DeChambeau, Ludvig Åberg, Keegan Bradley, Joel Dahmen, Wyndham Clark, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Adam Hadwin, Min Woo Lee, Minjee Lee, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Scottie Scheffler, Neal Shipley, Nick Taylor, Sahith Theegala, Justin Thomas, Camilo Villegas and Gary Woodland will all feature.

“The cameras are back for a third season,” a Full Swing statement read on Wednesday. “As this immersive documentary series follows a diverse group of professional golfers – both returning favorites and new faces – on and off the course across a relentless season of competition on the PGA Tour.”

Revealing what golf fans can expect to watch when tuning in next month, the statement added: “Including all four of golf’s Major championships, The Masters, The PGA Championship, The U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and for the first time in Full Swing, the Presidents Cup.”

When it comes to the LIV setup, just one of the breakaway league’s members is on the player list in DeChambeau. In previous years, both Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have played their part in the production. In season one, Englishman Ian Poulter also played a part, as the Ryder Cup hero’s transition from the PGA Tour by LIV was captured by the behind-the-scenes cameras.
