Chelsea Youngster Who Was Not Given A Squad Number For This Season Now Makes Team Of The Week On Loan

Chelsea youngster Angelo Gabriel has now been named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week for his performance on loan at Strasbourg this weekend.

WhoScored gave the Brazilian a 8.27 rating out of 10 for his performance in a 2-2 draw with Montpellier.

The winger started at last for Patrick Vieira’s side, who are of course under the same ownership that are in charge of the Blues at this stage.

Because of the links between the two clubs, there was plenty of excitement that the move to France would see him be handed plenty of opportunities to star.

This followed a pre-season where he was heavily involved for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, which will no doubt have been great for him following his summer move to Stamford Bridge.

He featured against a number of top sides, particularly in the Premier League Super Series where the Blues reigned supreme.

However, it became clear that his future for this season was going to be elsewhere when he wasn’t handed a squad number for the upcoming campaign.

Despite not being in West London, there will still be plenty at the club who are delighted with what they are seeing from the youngster at this stage of his development.

Angelo will now be hoping that regular appearances are on the horizon right now, before he returns to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

It currently remains unclear whether he will return to the club permanently, or if it will be at least one more loan before he becomes a first team player at Chelsea.
