Manchester United Fans All Think There Was One Shining Light From The Bayern Munich Game

Manchester United fans have pin-pointed the one shining light from their defeat to Bayern Munich.

United lost 4-3 against Bayern in their Champions League Group A match at the Allianz Arena, with Harry Kane netting his first Champions League goal for his new club.

The result sees the Bundesliga champions go top of Group A after Galatasaray and Copenhagen drew 2-2 earlier on Wednesday. Meanwhile, United languish at the bottom of the group after one game.

And despite a tepid performance from the Old Trafford club, Sergio Reguilon’s showing against the Bavarian giants impressed United fans on social media.

The Spaniard signed for United from Tottenham on loan at the close of the transfer window, with the club short of options at left-back amid Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injuries.

At that point Reguilon has not featured in a competitive game for Spurs since April 2022 while he had spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he played just 11 La Liga games.

While his move didn’t initially inspire the Old Trafford fan-base, it’s safe to say United fans are now taking to the 26-year-old.

Writing on X, the social media platform formally known as Twitter, one person said: “Never thought I’d say this but Sergio Reguilon has been one of our best players since his debut.

“He’s absolutely giving everything.”

Another wrote: “Is there a buy option in Reguilon’s loan deal?”

A third said: “The fact that Reguilon (a loan player) has been our best player says a lot about the state of this football club.”

A fourth person added: “Reguilon is United’s best player by some distance.*

“*tweets I didn’t think I’d be writing 3 weeks ago.”

A fifth said: “They say don’t fall in love with a loan player but… Sergio Reguilon.”
