Pochettino Tells Chelsea To Sign £60m Striker Who Is ‘Prolific’ And ‘Strong’

Chelsea signed a number of players in the summer transfer window and spent a lot of money, but one area they did not properly strengthen was upfront.

Yes, Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson, but he is only 22 and is still developing and progressing as a striker.

Jackson is not the finished article yet.

And neither is Armando Broja.

After all, Broja is only 22.

Chelsea let Romelu Lukaku leave in the summer transfer window.

And now the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are on the hunt for a new striker.

Mauricio Pochettino wants Ivan Toney at Chelsea

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea want to sign Ivan Toney from London and Premier League rivals Brentford in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Brentford are willing to sell the 27-year-old England international striker for £60 million.

Chelsea could make a bid for Toney in January 2024.

The striker is serving a ban at the moment and is not available to play until January.

TalkSPORT has added that “Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is leading the charge to sign Toney after making it clear to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that he needs more firepower”.

Ivan Toney could flourish at Chelsea

In our view, Ivan Toney could flourish at Chelsea and be a success at the Blues.

Toney has progressed steadily over the years and is now at the top of his game.

At the age of 27, Toney is in his peak years.

We believe that Toney would be able to make an immediate impact at Chelsea.

The striker has already been a success in the Premier League with Brentford.

After banging in the goals for fun in the Championship to help Brentford win promotion, he has done the job for the Bees in the Premier League.

Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.

Former Arsenal prospect and Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd rates Toney highly.

Bothroyd said about Toney on Sky Sports this month: “He scores goals, he is prolific, he is strong, he leads the line really well.

“If you put him in any of the big teams, he is going to score at least 20 Premier League goals a season. Great on penalties.”
