Top 8 Interesting Facts about Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is one of the most popular and influential actresses of her generation. She is one of the most publicized celebrities on the planet and is regularly found on the front pages of newspapers and magazines. Jolie has lived an incredibly interesting life. Let’s take a look at some interesting facts about Angelina Jolie

She started her acting career with the movie ‘Lookin’ to get Out’ which was co-written by her father.

In Lookin’ to Get Out (1982), she made her first appearance in cinema alongside her father, Jon Voight. It was directed by Hal Ashby and written by Al Schwartz and Jon Voight. Voight made his screenplay debut with the movie. After some initial setbacks, main photography on the movie began in May 1980. An actors’ strike caused a five-month hiatus in the production.

Before the company took control of the film and recut it for him, director Ashby had infamous spats with the studio. Years later, while giving a speech at the University of Southern California, Jon Voight learned that the students had seen Ashby’s initial cut of the movie rather than the theatrical version (which was considered lost). Warner Home Video, which released the Ashby Director’s Cut on DVD on June 30, 2009, was informed of this. Filming took place in Las Vegas, including at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, and Variety called out the “shameless plugging” for the MGM entertainment complex and its shows (especially Siegfried & Roy’s magic performances) in their review.

She dealt with drug abuse

In 2010, a drug dealer claimed that he supplied drugs to Angelina Jolie and even said that she was “high on cocaine” while promoting her 2000 film “Girl Interrupted,” according to Page Six. The drug dealer, Franklin Meyer said, “She’d taken coke, she did the show and then she came back over after.” Meyer also insisted that the actress would often end up spending around $100 on drugs whenever she met him in New York.

According to the Associated Press, Angelina Jolie agreed to drug testing when filming “Tomb Raider” because she wanted to “shed her early reputation.” In order to prove that she was deserving of the job, Jolie “would do anything,” according to the director Simon West, who provided some backstory. An excerpt from “Angelina Jolie: The Biography” claims that the actress decided to be honest with her admirers and make sure they realized she wasn’t perfect. “Wouldn’t it be more beneficial for a young girl to be aware of the things I’ve learned, the mistakes I’ve made, how human I am, and how similar to her I am?” she questioned.

She want to help her mom cope with her dad’s affair

An unhappy memory with images of three quarrels made Angelina Jolie difficult, making her psychologically unstable. “My mother was in a lot of pain after my father’s affair, the issue of alimony and 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 support became quite complicated.” When her parents had to divorce, she chose to stay with her mother and always worked hard to make up for her mother’s care.

Jolie’s mother pushed her to think about acting or modeling, and Jolie obeyed her desire to help her mother in any way she could. In addition, Angelina Jolie felt that her mother was denied the opportunity to have a successful career or her own voice, which inspired Jolie to try harder. She said: “I realized when I was younger, having a public voice was more powerful than a nice, dignified, stay-at-home woman who did everything right and sacrificed it all”.

She lost her mother to cancer

When Angeline Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand (shown right) passed away in 2007 due to cancer, she was devastated. “I’ve had my fair share of things that have made me feel… you know, hard to speak too much about it, but just overwhelming or broken… it’s a part of something when you feel like you just want to kind of hide under the covers or you’re not sure what you’ve got left in you,” Jolie said to ET Online. In a story for Time Magazine, Jolie described her mother’s hardships and noted that chemotherapy was extremely difficult on Bertrand due to the side effects. With less of the terrible side effects, Jolie continued, “There are new approaches to determine which chemotherapy medicine is appropriate for each patient.”

Bertrand battled ovarian cancer for nearly 10 years before succumbing to it in 2007 at the age of 56. Before she died, Bertrand made clear she was grateful for the life she had lived and said that “she had missed nothing in life except getting to know her grand𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren. “Jolie told Parade that she could visualize her mom singing songs in church and lighting candles. Jolie teared up when she said that she visited the church with her son after Bertrand passed away — they lit a candle in her memory.

She battles postpartum depression

After giving 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to her twins, Vivienne and Knox, in 2008, Angelina Jolie reportedly struggled with postpartum depression. She was reportedly staying indoors in Provence, France with her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren who were said to have an ailment called colic, which “causes repeated periods of intense and inconsolable sobbing,” according to a report by The Evening Standard. The actress frequently stayed up late caring for the twins since she was so concerned for their wellbeing.

Their state reportedly took a toll on Jolie, who frequently stayed in bed, slept whenever she could, and tried to control her feelings, according to an unnamed insider. She has little energy and struggles to remember to eat because she is still nursing, the insider continued. Additionally, it was believed that Jolie was upset with her then-husband, actor Brad Pitt. The source explained how Jolie felt and said, “He had the kids without the pain of 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡, and he can just jet off whenever he feels like it.” Per NBC News, Jolie was exhausted while looking after six kids and was also recuperating after her C-section delivery.

She has been married three time

Angelina Jolie has been married three times to three very famous Hollywood stars: Johnny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton, and Brad Pitt. In a recent interview, she revealed which one of them was the “greatest husband,” and it wasn’t Pitt, her most recent ex. Jolie was only 19 years-old when she met Miller on the set of the 1995 movie Hackers, and they had a whirlwind romance that saw them get married just one year later. They tied the knot in a small civil ceremony in front of Jolie’s mother and one of Miller’s friends. Since it wasn’t a real wedding, Jolie didn’t buy a dress. Instead, she wore a pair of black rubber pants and a white T-shirt on which she wrote “‘Jonny” in her own blood. “It’s your husband. You’re about to marry him,” Jolie told The New York Times of her marriage to Miller. “You can sacrifice a little to make it really special.” Though Jolie and Miller were madly in love at the start, their marriage didn’t last long. They separated in September of 1997 and finalized their divorce in February of 1999. Despite this, Jolie has since described Miller as the “greatest husband a girl could ask for,” saying that he was “a solid man and a solid friend.”

Jolie would go on to meet Thornton on the set of the 1999 movie Pushing Tin, and they eloped one year later. Their marriage did not last long either, as they separated in September of 2002 and divorced the next year. Jolie began dating Pitt after meeting him on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. They six 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren together, three biological and three adopted, before finally getting married in 2014. “Brad and Angie said handwritten vows telling each other how much they love each other and their beautiful family and they both had tears in their eyes, as did everyone else,” a source told E! News of their wedding, which happened in France. “It was short but loaded with meaning, and it was a lovely way to start life in their new family home now that the building work is finally finished.” Unfortunately, their official marriage did not last long, as they divorced in September of 2016. Their custody battle for their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren has been an incredibly bitter one, as it is still ongoing to this day.

She decided to undergo surgery for the sake of her health

In a 2013 article for The New York Times, Angelina Jolie opened out to her admirers and wrote about her mother, revealing that she didn’t get to meet several of her grandkids before she passed away. The actress then said, “We frequently refer to “mommy’s mommy,” and I often find myself attempting to explain the condition that caused her to pass away. They questioned whether I might experience the same thing.”

Jolie said that because to her family history, which includes both her mother and grandmother receiving cancer diagnoses at various times in their life, her physicians had determined that she was “high risk” and might acquire breast or ovarian cancer. She chose to have a double mastectomy as a precaution, and she is glad she did. She penned, “To let other women know that choosing to have a mastectomy was not an easy choice, I felt compelled to write this. But it’s a decision I’m very glad I made.”

The actress went on to say that the operation had significantly increased her odds, and she urged other women to get tested and have a proactive attitude. Jolie lost one of her aunts to breast cancer just two weeks after her operation (via The Guardian). The BBC said that Jolie underwent additional surgeries in 2015 to protect herself from the chance of contracting ovarian cancer.

She’s A Proud Bi𝓈ℯ𝓍ual

Angelina Jolie is open to falling in love with anybody, and when asked about her attraction to women, she said, “Of course. If I fell in love with a woman tomorrow, would I feel that it’s okay to want to kiss and touch her? If I fell in love with her? Absolutely! Yes!” But while Jolie held a burning flame for Shimizu, what about her marriage to Jonny Lee Miller? In another Movieline interview, she revealed, “When I was 20, I fell in love with somebody who happened to be a woman. I was open about it (bi𝓈ℯ𝓍uality) because I wanted people to know that I had been with a woman. I spoke about it because I’d discovered something wonderful and I thought people should know my experience was very real.

The first of these was when she was linked with Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood. There wasn’t any reason for the baseless rumor, apart from the fact that Wood also came out as a bi𝓈ℯ𝓍ual. Evan even replied to rumor on social media “I made it on the @billboardcharts AND I am dating #AngelinaJolie ?? What. a. DAY,” she wrote in response to a Gossip Cop tweet that read: “Angelina Jolie Dating @evanrachelwood ?” She was also rumored to be dating her ‘Maleficent’ co-star Michelle Pfeiffer. This happened after Jolie gave an interview to Access Hollywood where she said that she had a “teen crush” on Pfeiffer. This again came out as a baseless rumor as sources close to Jolie called it “ridiculous” and adding up to it, Pfeiffer was happily married to David E Kelley.
