Patrick Mahomes facing NFL fine after slamming officials in post-game rant after Kansas City Chiefs defeat

Mahomes might not be the only Chiefs member to be fined for his choice words after the team’s loss on Sunday

PATRICK Mahomes has a chance of being fined by the NFL after criticizing the refs after the Kansas City Chiefs brutal 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback, 28, slammed the officials over a penalty call that ruled out a potential game-winning touchdown versus the Bills on Sunday.

Late in the fourth quarter, Chiefs wideout Kadarius Toney was ruled offside in the same play that he caught a lateral pass from tight end Travis Kelce and proceeded to run for a touchdown.

The play wouldn’t count as Kansas City went on to lose five plays later.

After the turnover on downs play, Mahomes went to the sidelines threw his helmet down, and was seen yelling at the officials.

Teammates then tried to hold back Mahomes while he was seemingly saying: “We played our f***ing a**es off and you call offensive offsides?'”

After the game, Bills star quarterback Josh Allen went to greet Mahomes on the field.

While embracing Allen, Mahomes was then shown in a viral video displaying his anger toward the refs.

“Wildest f***ing call I’ve ever seen,” Mahomes said as he shook his head in disappointment, via WROC-TV.

“F***ing terrible.”

In the postgame conference, Mahomes told reporters that he’s “never had offensive offsides called” while adding “it’s not what we want for football.”

The two-time MVP is now facing a possible NFL fine for his choice of words.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was fined $25,000 for ripping the refs during a postgame conference after his team’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 29.

And on Monday morning, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed on X, formerly Twitter, that “Mahomes’ postgame comments will be reviewed” and that his dialogue at the refs and on-the-field commentary “may be more of an issue.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid could also be fined after his postgame comments.

“I never use any of this as an excuse, but normally, I get a warning before something like that happens in a big game,” Reid said.

“A bit embarrassing in the National Football League for that to take place.”

Kansas City has now lost three of their last four games.

They’ll try to get back on track when they go on the road to face the New England Patriots in Week 15 next Sunday.
