Mahomes is active in charitable efforts and has used the fame and money he’s earned from his success in the NFL to make life better for those in need.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback founded 15 and Mahomies in 2019 to support the lives of 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren and provide resources to those who need them.

“15 and the Mahomies is dedicated to improving the lives of 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren,” his website reads.

“The Foundation supports initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes.”

Mahomes’ efforts off of the football field have earned him a nomination for Walter Payton Man of the Year.

The award is considered one of the most prestigious in the NFL and each winner can forever display their award on the field with a special patch on their jersey.

“The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. The award was established in 1970. It was renamed in 1999 after the late Hall of Fame Chicago Bears running back, Walter Payton,” the NFL website reads.

“Each team nominates one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community. Representing the best of the NFL’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact, 32 players are selected as their team’s Man of the Year and become eligible to win the national award.

“The winner of the award each year receives a $250,000 donation to the charity of his choice. All 32 nominees receive up to a $55,000 donation to their charity of choice. All donations are courtesy of the NFL Foundation and Nationwide.”

Mahomes recently bolstered his case for the award by visiting Isaac, a boy 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with a rare spinal defect that caused him to be unable to walk, and gifting him Super Bowl tickets.

“I’m glad that I’m able to help give him an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl and enjoy that and see it,” Mahomes said.

“One day he’s gonna be broadcasting games and I hope I’m around playing them still.

“To be able to make an impact on anyone’s life, I know how blessed I’ve been to be able to be in this position, I want to make an impact on other people’s lives.

“That’s something I want to be remembered for.”

The winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award will be announced at the NFL Honors show on Thursday, February 8.
