Emma Stone is currently out on the promotional push for her new film Kinds Of Kindness, which marks her first movie since she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Poor Things (2023).
On Thursday, the Hollywood leading lady was seen making her way to NBC Studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in the heart of Manhattan for an appearance on Today.
The actress was all smiles when she was greeted by fans when she started to head to the studio, and being the fan-friendly person that she is she made a point of briefly stopping to say hello while people snapped photos.
Her striking patent leather off-the-shoulder number hugged her womanly curves while being cinched in at the waist with a built in belt.
Among the unique characteristics of the garment include the shiny color and a layered design just below her chest.
Emma Stone, 35, stepped out to make her way to the NBC Studios to promote her new film Kinds Of Kindness in New York City decked out in a shiny brown leather dress
In keeping with the color theme, Stone wore a pair of brown open-toe heels, all while she carried a small Louis Vuitton bag to carry a few of her essentials.
She also decided to slip on a pair of cool dark sunglasses for her ride over to the studio for her interview.
Rounding out her look, the Scottsdale, Arizona native had her red locks, which were a near perfect match to her dress and shoes, styled long, straight, and flowing down past her shoulders with a part in the middle.
After stopping to address the fans who greeted her when she stepped outside, Stone headed to her awaiting car and shortly after drove off.
Once situated with her co-star Jesse Plemons for the interview on the Today show set, Stone was asked by host Craig Melvin to clarify what to call the actress in the wake of an interview she did in May.
‘Are we still going by Emma, or Emily?’ Melvin, 45, asked. ‘There’s been some confusion over your name.’
‘I’m fine either way,” Stone replied. ‘I really am. My real name is Emily, though.’
When asked why she never corrected people who call her Emma, the actress revealed that she made the change when she found out it her real name of Emily Stone had already been used by another actress.
Looking sleek in her striking number, Stone stopped briefly to address excited fans outside
Kinds of Kindness marks the fifth time Stone has worked with director Yorgos Lanthimos; they are seen together at the 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 17
‘It was taken at Screen Actors Guild,’ she said of her name. ‘It’s sort of like when you register a business and you can’t have the same name as someone else.’
She went on to share that she been ‘saying Emily my whole life … you can call me whatever you want,” she told Melvin. ‘You can make up a name!’
The name game popped up last month when a reporter referred to her by her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 name of Emily when she made an appearance at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival to promote Kinds Of Kindness alongside director and frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos.
After being referred to by her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 name, Stone smiled and turned to Lanthimos, excitedly telling him, ‘That’s my name!’
The absurdist black comedy anthology follows three distinct but loosely connected stories
After premiering at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 17, Kinds Of Kindness premieres in theaters in the U.S. on June 21, and then on June 28 in the UK and Ireland
Lanthimos, 50, helmed the absurdist black comedy anthology film while working from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou, which is the fifth time he’s worked with Stone on a feature.
Along with Stone and Plemons, the cast also features Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer.
The production follows along three distinct but loosely connected stories: ‘a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader,’ according to a Searchlight Pictures website.
