Golden State Warriors are currently intending to keep Kevon Looney.
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors are planning to let Looney’s $8 million contract be fully guaranteed next week. At the moment, only $3 million is guaranteed.
With that, Looney is expected to remain with the team for the time being. Slater notes that the player is one of Steve Kerr’s favorites and that is seen as a “locker room leader.”
Despite the Warriors’ plans to keep Looney, the center’s salary might still be used to “complete a trade,” according to Slater.
Kevon Looney was selected as the 30th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Warriors, and this partnership has lasted a long time. This season, which was Looney’s 9th, the center averaged 4.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.
