The Ohio State Buckeyes secured a four-game winning streak after their 38-7 victory against the Michigan State Spartans. Ryan Day’s team was in control since the start of the game and gave Michigan State no breathing room to create a chance for a comeback.
One of the key players in Ohio State’s week 5 victory was freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. He ended the night with two total touchdowns while also showing off his incredible athleticism. In the second quarter of the game, Smith made an impressive one-handed catch to score a touchdown and extend his team’s lead.
This exhilarating athleticism of the freshman wide receiver caught the attention of NBA star LeBron James. Being an Ohio State fan, James could not keep calm after witnessing Smith’s heroics. He took to social media to heap praise on the freshman wide receiver for his one-handed touchdown.
“JEREMIAH SMITH!!!! MAN KNOCK IT OFF!!!! MY GOODNESS O-H..,” LeBron James tweeted.
So far this season, Jeremiah Smith has played in all four games for the Buckeyes. He has recorded a total of 364 receiving yards along with five receiving touchdowns. Apart from him, QB Will Howard, who transferred from Kansas State, put up a brilliant performance leading the offense.
Howard finished the game with a total of 244 passing yards and two TD passes. He completed 21 of the 31 passes he attempted and secured a 67.7% completion percentage. This victory puts the Buckeyes a step closer to the Big Ten championship and a spot in the new 12-team playoffs.
Who will Ohio State face next?
Ryan Day and his team will be at home for their next game. They are scheduled to face the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, October 5. The game is expected to kick off at around 3:30 pm ET.
Fans will be able to watch the game on their television as it will be broadcast live on CBS. The live stream of the game will also be available on streaming sites such as FuboTV, Sling TV, and others.
The Hawkeyes will be entering the showdown against Ohio State as the underdogs. If Ryan Day and his team manage to keep up the momentum they have built, they should emerge victorious in week 6. However, the Buckeyes have a really strong roster this season. As such, it will be interesting to see if they can go on to lift their first national championship since 2014.
