LeBron James speaks out on Donald Trump election win after controversial Kamala Harris endorsement

LeBron James has sent an emotional message to his daughter Zhuri Nova in the wake of Donald Trump‘s election victory over Kamala Harris.

Trump has been re-elected as president after trouncing Harris in Tuesday night’s polls, with the 78-year-old currently on course to win all seven key swing states.

His return to office marks one of the most astonishing political comebacks in history, four years after the riots that followed his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Nevertheless, Harris was unable to get the better of him in the voting on Tuesday despite having the support of several high-profile figures, including LeBron.

In the lead-up the election, the basketball legend received a major backlash when he endorsed the Democratic nominee by sharing a controversial anti-Trump video.

And after the Republican’s victory, LeBron took to Instagram to send a message to 10-year-old daughter Zhuri Nova.

‘HEAVY ON MY HEART & MIND THIS AM MY PRINCESS,’ he wrote alongside a photo of him holding his young girl.

‘PROMISE TO PROTECT YOU WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE AND MORE!! WE DONT NEED THEIR HELP!’

The topic of abortion proved a major talking point in the election, with Trump drawing criticism over his previous claim to have ‘𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed’ Roe vs Wade – a Supreme Court ruling which protected the rights to abortion.

Yet the controversy surrounding his stance on abortion rights was not enough for the majority of voters to side with Harris in the end.

LeBron urged people to go out and vote for the Democrats last week after posting a clip which appeared to show several members of Trump’s party using offensive and violent rhetoric.

He captioned the post: ‘What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!’

The video shared by LeBron included comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who was invited to speak at a recent Trump rally, making a racist remark about he and a black friend ‘carving watermelons together’, as well as Trump declaring in an old interview that ‘maybe hate is what we need’.

LeBron was slammed for sharing an anti-Trump clip fans claimed used out-of-context footage

It also featured aggressive soundbites from the president-elect played over footage of civil rights protests and abuses from several decades.

LeBron was quickly criticized over his endorsement of Harris and attack on Trump, which fans claimed had been ‘stitched together’.

One user posted in the comments section: ‘From your biggest fan, clipping together a bunch of unrelated sound bites to these racially charged videos is sad propaganda and embarrassing work. You should be ashamed. There is so much real content you could’ve posted to get your message across, you didn’t need to fabricate this narrative. I’m embarrassed my goat posted this.

Another commented: ‘King, these were all taken out of context’.

‘Nah, this ain’t it,’ a third replied to James. ‘Taking speeches out of context and placing them next to racist historical events is classic Democrat moves.’
