Rory McIlroy makes an intriguing Tiger Woods prediction ahead of TGL’s start

Rory McIlroy made a big prediction as PGA Tour players gear up to compete in the first edition of the TGL. The Northern Irish golfer collaborated with legendary golfer Tiger Woods and TMRW executive Mike McCarley to create an interesting series called TGL, which is scheduled to start its first season in January 2025.

This series has been in the headlines for quite some time now. Initially, it was scheduled to begin with its inaugural season in January 2024, but just a few months prior to the start of the series, the dome of Sofi Center, the venue for the series, collapsed due to a power failure. The center was reconstructed and is now finally ready to host the first edition of the brand-new golf series.

Recently, Rory McIlroy, who will be playing in the series, answered some intriguing questions and made interesting predictions. Intriguingly, he also predicted about Tiger Woods’s performance in the series. The world No. 3 said that Woods would be the one who would take the most timeouts during the season. A host asked McIlroy:

“Who will call the most timeouts during this Season?

To which the four-time Major winner replied:

“Tiger ( Woods)”

Along with this, Rory McIlroy also answered some interesting questions. He was asked about the best putter in TGL and the most entertaining mic’d-up player in the series.

Below are some of Rory McIlroy’s predictions for the first season of TGL:

“Best putter in TGL presented by SoFi?”

“Kevis Kisner,” McIlroy replied.

“Worst trash talker in TGL”

“Me,” McIlroy said.

“Which player would be most entertaining mic’d up?”

“Max Homa,” McIlroy replied.

“If you trade hair with anyone in TGL, who would it be?”

“Cameron Young,” McIlroy said.

“Who will their caddie the most?”

“Wyndham Clark,” McIlroy replied.

“Best overall athlete in TGL”

“Me,” McIlroy replied.

Notably, TGL is not like regular golf tournaments, which take place on golf courses. It’s a tech-infused series, and its matches will take place on simulators. Moreover, the matches will also be held on 15 holes, unlike the 18-hole rounds in regular golf events.

Which teams are Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods playing for in TGL?

TGL has six teams consisting of four players each. A total of 24 players will be participating in the series. Tiger Woods will be playing for the Jupiter Links Golf Club. Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner will join him.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy will be playing for the Boston Common Golf Club alongside former Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama, 2025 Ryder Cup U.S. team captain Keegan Bradley, and former world No. 1 Adam Scott.

Here are the teams and players of TGL:
