Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter pen new two-year deals with IRFU

Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter have signed two-year contract extensions with the IRFU that will keep them at Leinster until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Tighthead prop Furlong, who made his Ireland debut against Wales back in 2015, has 78 Test appearances under his belt, winning three Six Nations titles.

Since making his senior Leinster debut in November 2013, Furlong has played 149 times for the province, winning four Pro12/Pro14 titles and the European Champions Cup.

The 32-year-old Wexford native, who had been linked with a number of Top 14 clubs, did not feature for Ireland during the November window due to a hamstring injury.

“To get the chance to continue my playing career in Ireland with my home province is a dream come true,” he said.

“I am delighted to extend my long association with both Leinster Rugby and the IRFU for the seasons to come. Since the beginning of my career I have aimed to contribute positively in a winning environment and I believe that there are bright times to come for club and country.”

Porter, who started all 11 of Ireland’s Tests in 2024, has also established himself as an integral member of Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad and his long-term commitment is another boost ahead of the spring’s Six Nations.

The 28-year-old loosehead prop made his Test debut against USA in 2017 and has gone on to earn 70 caps in green, winning three Six Nations crowns and featuring at the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups.

Porter has played 128 times for Leinster since making his debut in September 2016, winning four Pro12/Pro14 titles and the European Champions Cup.

“Playing in Ireland is something that I never take for granted and I am delighted to commit my future to my home province Leinster and Ireland,” he said.

“There is a huge amount of talent coming through the system at provincial and international levels and it is a privilege to work with such a talented group of coaches and players.”
