Devine’s journey into the entertainment industry began with her passion for music, nurtured in her church choir during 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood. Although she aspired to become a professional musician, she pivoted to acting after facing challenges in securing scholarships. Moving to New York, she obtained a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Brandeis University. Her Broadway debut occurred in 1978, and she gained further acclaim with her performance in the musical “Dreamgirls,” which launched her career into the spotlight.
