Report suggests the Chicago Bulls should pursue Gabe Vincent

Could Gabe Vincent be the guard the Bulls are looking for?

The Chicago Bulls have a lot of decisions to make regarding their roster. With apologies to the free agency situation of starting center Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls’ most crucial call involves getting a legitimate playmaker to handle the point guard position. According to a report by Keith Smith of Spotrac, one player the Bulls should consider getting is the Miami Heat’s, Gabe Vincent.

Logical candidate

For all intents and purposes, Bulls guard Lonzo Ball isn’t returning to the floor any time soon. And even if he does, nobody should expect him to be the dynamic, two-way player he once was. After all, the former UCLA star has yet to play NBA basketball since January 2022, when he injured his knee.

This is where Vincent may fit in seamlessly. A 6-foot-3 point guard from UC Santa Barbara, Vincent has become the Heat’s starting point guard and has played a critical role in the team’s improbable run through the NBA Playoffs, averaging 13.1 points and 4.1 assists per game. Fortunately for the Bulls, Vincent is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, meaning he can be signed for the right number.

“If Miami keeps (Max) Strus, Gabe Vincent would be a logical MLE candidate for Chicago,” wrote Smith.

Lots of holes to fill on the roster

Smith added that the Bulls’ shopping list this offseason involves getting “another playable wing, a playmaker at point guard.” There are viable options on the table, says Smith.

“Bruce Brown would be an ideal wing target, if he gets priced out of Denver. Same with Max Strus, if Miami can’t afford him. Dennis Smith Jr. had a nice comeback season, and he could make sense given the Bulls shooting around him,” the report read.
