He landed in Kansas, but his path could have been different
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has got the world at his feet right now, having won the Super Bowl twice already.
His stock internationally as an athlete and as a celebrity goes up day by day and that is great news for the Kansas City Chiefs, but the other 31 teams in the NFL can only look on with jealously.
The Chiefs selected Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft, moving up to take him with the 10th pick. But, there were actually a few other franchises who were very keen.

The quarterback really could have ended up elsewhere, something the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player revealed to Pardon My Take’s Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz.
“There were a couple of teams and one was the Chiefs, as I thought for sure I would go here,” Mahomes started.
“The Arizona Cardinals, they liked me a lot and the New Orleans Saints too. Those are the teams that really liked me.
“With the Saints, I’d be backing up Drew Brees. When the guy is throwing for the stuff he’s throwing for, you’re fine with just backing him up and learning as much as possible.”
Mahomes does know what it’s like to sit behind another starter, as he did have to do this for one year when Alex Smith was still the Chiefs starter.
As well as the strong interest from those sides, Mahomes also revealed that the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears could have ended up getting him too, as they also appreciated his talents.
