Lakers’ No. 17 Pick Jalen Hood-Schifino Was Only 7 Days Old When LeBron James Got Drafted By Cavaliers

Superstar LeBron James entered the league in 2003, being drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the No. 1 overall pick. He has played at a superstar level every single year except his rookie season, and even now, many still consider him a top-10 player in the league.

LeBron James’ longevity in the league is absolutely impressive, and a recent statistic illustrates just that. A recent Reddit post revealed that the Lakers’ recent draft pick, Jalen Hood-Schifino was only 7 days old when LeBron James entered the league.

Jalen Hood-Schifino was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 on June 19, 2003, while the 2003 NBA Draft happened on June 26, 2003. There’s no doubt that this is absolutely crazy, and it shows that LeBron James is simply an anomaly when it comes to performance.

During the 2022-23 regular season with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James averaged 28.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG while shooting 50.0% from the field. While he is no longer the dominant force he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, it is clear that James is still one of the best players in the league today.

Draymond Green Once Explained The Extent Of LeBron James’ Longevity

At this point, it is fair to say that there has never been a superstar that has been as good as LeBron James has for the whole duration of their career. There are players who might have comparable peaks, but LeBron James’ longevity is unprecedented. In fact, Draymond Green once explained just how insane LeBron James’ longevity is.

“LeBron’s gonna basically OWN all of the ‘youngest to ever to’ and all of the ‘oldest to ever to’ records in the book. Just think about that.”

It remains to be seen if the longevity records set by LeBron James will ever be broken. He is notably the holder of the all-time scoring record, and it is clear that this is a record that he will hold for a long time. All his records are a sign of his consistent greatness, and we should cherish LeBron James while he is still playing.
